One of the many features that our Phone Assistant offers is allowing you to upload your own personal recordings versus using our standard voice. By uploading your own recordings, you can personalize the Phone Assistant experience and continue to showcase your brand.
If you are not already using Phone Assistant, you will need to set up your phone Flow, starting with the steps below. If you are already using the Phone Assistant, see the article here to find the desired flow.
In this article, we’ll go over how to set up and manage these recordings.
Note: Only Corporate users can customize Phone Assistant.
Create a Flow
Click Web Assistant in the left menu.
Use the Flow Template dropdown to select one of the Phone Assistant templates.
After you have selected a template, select the boxes for each of the communities you want to add to this flow.
When you’re done, click Create in the top right.
On the new page click Publish Changes and select Publish in the new window.
You are now ready to add your voice recordings!
Further does not support the ability to record your voice within the Further Dashboard. Recordings will need to be created before changing the default voice of the Phone Assistant. Only mp3 audio format is supported. |
Upload Voice Recordings to Phone Assistant

Open up the appropriate Flow Editor and click the Custom Module Recordings tab.
You can see the different upload options based on the Type of module they correlate to.
- A gray upload button means that a recording is optional.
- An orange upload button means that a recording is required.
- A crossed out gray button means that you cannot add a recording.
To upload a recording, click the upload button. In the new window, click the upload button again. You can select a recording from your device.
Once your recording is selected, click Save to apply it.
When a recording has been uploaded, you’ll see a play button under the Audio column. You can click the button to hear the recording.
If you do not upload a recording for an optional module then that step will not play for callers. You will not be able to activate your custom recording until all required modules are complete. |
When you’re done, click Activate in the top right.
In the new window select Confirm.
The recordings are set for individual communities. If you have multiple communities tied to the flow, you will need to select each one and upload the desired recordings. Click the Community Name to the left to open each community. |
Update Recordings
If you would like to change the sound file for a section, simply click the step.
The re-upload window will open. Click the upload icon and select the desired recording. Click Save when you’re done.
Module Changes
If you change the chat modules under Dialog Flows, then your custom recordings will be deactivated.
You will see the changes made to the flow in the Custom Module Recordings steps.
Once you add any new required recordings, you’ll be able to Activate the custom recordings again.
